Pisobilities: Personal Finance Program

“PISOBILITIES” is a portmanteau word coined by CFE. It refers to one’s ability to earn and manage his one peso and the possibilities of making that same one peso work for him. Each person’s financial profile should be like a one peso coin. He has two sides that give him more than enough capacity to attain financial independence. One side represents his ability to generate active income or the income earned when he invests his talent, sweat and time. The other side is his ability to generate passive income or the income earned from savings, otherwise known as investment income. He has to use these two capabilities at the same time.

The program aims to:

1. Make participants aware of the need to prepare for one’s financial future and to become financially literate;
2. Assist them in determining their personal net worth and in setting their financial goals;
3. Monitor their progress by guiding them from awareness and acceptance of the financial education that they received, to practicing what they learned and putting to action their financial plans.

The program can be delivered in three (3) ways: Personal Finance Seminar, Personal Finance Workshop and Personal Finance Coaching. Each is stand-alone but we could develop a comprehensive program that could run anywhere from 3 months, 6 months or 12 months, depending on the company's objectives.

Personal Finance Seminar

The seminar is a one and a half (1.5) hour session which will focus on imparting the importance of having the right financial mindset before starting one’s journey to financial independence. CFE will provide information on basic financial concepts and tools for managing personal finances effectively through proper planning, wise spending, saving and investing.

Personal Finance Workshop

The workshop is a four (4) hour session which accommodates a maximum of fifty (50) participants. The number of workshop sessions will be dependent on the actual number of program participants.

The participants will be required to assess their personal finances, accomplish personal financial statements and undergo net worth planning to determine their personal financial goals. Towards the latter part of the workshop, CFE will also discuss debt management and information on investment instruments that an individual may consider to achieve his goal. To improve on the effectiveness of the program, we highly recommend the participation of the employee’s spouse, dependent or any representative from their family to be present because “finance is a family matter.”

Personal Finance Coaching

A CFE personal finance coach will conduct consultancy sessions at your worksite on a weekly basis for a minimum period of three (3) months*. He will be available for a fixed number of hours for each appointed coaching day. The frequency will be determined depending on the number of participants who would enroll in the program. Participants may bring their chosen family member who attended the Phase 2 session/s to the coaching. They must pre-register to avail of the weekly session.

HATCH Program for Kidults

Handling personal finances is not a part of the educational curriculum in the Philippines. Most of the time, kidults (a portmanteau word for kid and adult) are unable to manage their personal finances. On the other hand, parents often end up dependent on their children in their old age. Unfortunately, kidults end up joining the workforce being financially literate. Thus, there are many young professionals "yuppies" with good income but unable to save; their mindset being "to earn and to spend". To develop the value of financial literacy, CFE, together with the Citigroup Foundation, developed HATCH: A Kidult's Guide to Managing Personal Finance. This is a two-hour program that focuses on four basic financial aspects: 1) spending, 2) saving, 3) planning, and 4) investing. Click here to read more.
