1st Webinar Success!
Posted on Aug 15, 2011Last August 12, 2011 at 6pm was a milestone for the Colayco Foundation for Education (CFE) and the Kapatiran sa Kasaganaan Service and Multi-purpose Cooperative (KsKCoop). We had the maiden run of our first Webinar and it was a huge success having more than 300 participants, the biggest number for Webinars originating from the Philippines.
A Webinar is a seminar that is held through the Internet. This means that participants from any part of the world can register, listen, watch the powerpoint presentation and participate. System Requirements are a computer with good internet connections.
For PC-based attendees requirements are: Windows(R) 7, Vista, XP or 2003 Server and for
Macintosh(R)-based attendees requirements are: Mac OS(R) X 10.5 or newer.

It was a different experience for me, Armand Bengco, our Executive Director, the rest of the CFE Team and surely for all the participants. It was a “live audience” and there were indications to show their presence like their names, symbols (whether they were on the website page or just listening with another page in front of them, whether they were typing out questions, or whether they were raising their hands to ask a question.) We couldn’t see each other and that was an advantage and disadvantage because bodily reactions could not be seen as well. Fortunately, we had a good moderator, who kept the exchange flowing and in order. Our CFE Team had their hands full in answering questions. At a certain point, there were so many questions that they could not cope. As soon as possible, the CFE Team will put together a FAQ and the answers to be emailed to all participants.
“Audio” questions, where the participant can speak and be heard by all can also be entertained similar to what happens in a physical Seminar. However, as we all know, when so many raise their hands all at the same time and because of time constraints, only a few can be chosen.
The main purpose of the first Webinar was to introduce KsKCoop to the participants. The future Webinars are envisioned to be real seminars online.
We have regular public and private seminars held on the following topics Pera Palaguin, InvestEd Stock Market, Investability Mutual Funds and others. These seminars are held mostly in Metro Manila. We receive many inquiries from people all over the world wishing they could join our seminars and inquiring when we would be in their area. Now with this Webinar, we can accommodate all the interested people. They don’t need to leave their home or at least, they can go to a place near their home that has the technical requirements for the Webinar.
As in a regular Seminar, we have to charge a fee to cover our costs. The first Webinar was free and it was a short introduction to the KsKCoop. The next ones will have a fee much lower than the regular seminar fee. We have also made arrangements to give you many payment options including the use of credit cards.
